Business Sense Workshop: Knowledge That Saves Lives: Bringing Overdose Awareness to the Workforce

Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce Get Directions

Description

Substance use disorders affect employees across all industries, but sectors such as construction, transportation, manufacturing, and service-related occupations often experience higher rates of substance use and overdose-related harms. These challenges can contribute to increased absenteeism, workplace injuries, turnover, healthcare costs, and decreased productivity.

This workshop will provide business leaders with an overview of current substance use and overdose trends affecting working-age adults and the workplace. Attendees will learn how substance use impacts businesses, recognize potential warning signs among employees, understand strategies for reducing stigma and encouraging help-seeking behaviors, and gain knowledge of available resources and services including treatment and recovery programs, crisis services, naloxone access programs, and community-based supports.

This workshop is presented by Emily's Hope and the Overdose Response Strategy.

This Business Sense Workshop will be held in-person at the Chamber, please bring your own lunch.
