New grant available to child care providers
South Dakota providers who wish to start, expand or improve child care services have a new option for funding their efforts.
The South Dakota Department of Social Services (DSS) recently announced the creation of the Child Care Expansion & Startup Grant. The goal of the grant program is to expand access to child care in communities across the state.
The Child Care Expansion & Startup Grant will provide funds to meet health and safety requirements necessary to become a state licensed provider, purchase startup supplies and equipment, and support the program with initial operating costs.
Individuals, businesses, non-profit organizations, municipalities, current providers who are expanding, schools, or other organizations who plan to own the child care program are eligible to apply for the grant.
Details about the grant requirements and information on how to apply can be found on the DSS website.
