What is your biggest priority for the 2025 South Dakota Legislative Session?

Skyrocketing property taxes for single family homes. How to fix it? First let’s start with a few details. The State does not collect or spend any property tax money. Each county administrates its own property tax system. The states job is to make sure it’s a fair process. So, where does property tax money go? The big ones are Schools 56%, Counties 27% and Municipalities 13%. Who pays the bill? Owner Occupied 43%, Commercial 31% and Agricultural 22%. Is that a fair process?
