The Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce is proud to spotlight our Visionary Members—community benefactors that make the extra investment to help make our region a prosperous place. These members drive innovation, contribute to economic growth and uplift our community, not only shaping their respective industries but also playing a vital role in creating a vibrant, forward-thinking Sioux Falls. By sharing their stories, the Chamber aims to celebrate their achievements, inspire other local businesses and showcase the diverse strengths of our business community.

Healthy finances create the firm foundation necessary for businesses to accomplish their BIG PICTURE goals, leading to growth that allows our communities to thrive. First Bank & Trust, which has 22 locations in 17 communities in South Dakota and Minnesota, has a strong presence in Sioux Falls and a long-held conviction that, as a community bank, they can measure their success by the vitality of the community. Their organization focuses on delivering value in two specific ways: by ensuring day-to-day financial tasks are made as easy as possible, and by providing insights that help businesses confidently maneuver their financial decisions.
The Fishback family has been in the financial services industry since 1880, before South Dakota was even a state. Their current charter celebrates its 100th anniversary this year and has made its holding company, Fishback Financial Corporation, South Dakota’s largest privately held banking organization with more than $4.5 billion in assets. Now in its fourth generation of Fishback leadership, the company is proud to be family- and employee-owned, and their deep roots in the region mean their bankers understand the local business climate and can configure the right banking solutions to help clients achieve their financial goals.
“At First Bank & Trust, we’re dedicated to providing financial solutions that meet the unique needs of the Sioux Falls community,” said Jason Herrboldt, Chief Banking Officer at First Bank & Trust. “Whether it’s helping families plan for the future, supporting local businesses, or investing in community initiatives, our goal is to deliver services that create real value for our customers and contribute to the area’s continued growth.”

The bank’s commitment to Sioux Falls extends beyond financial services. They believe that when customers and communities thrive, business grows. This belief drives First Bank & Trust’s mission to support local organizations and events that strengthen the community and enhance the quality of life for residents.
The First Bank & Trust Community Fund supports initiatives that benefit youth, advance education, promote the arts, and improve the overall quality of life. Recent efforts include partnerships with The Foster Network, Fun & Friends, Center of Hope, Rare by Design, Fine Arts for Fredrich’s Ataxia, Furniture Mission of SD, and Lutheran Social Services Festival of Cultures. First Bank & Trust also sponsors the Downtown Sioux Falls Parade of Lights.
Employees play an active role in these efforts through volunteer work. Many employees help organize food drives, host holiday gift drop-off locations, lead classroom discussions through Junior Achievement, and collect shoes for Project Cozy Feet. Whether contributing their time or expertise, First Bank & Trust employees are dedicated to making a positive impact.
“Supporting efforts that strengthen Sioux Falls is an investment in the future of our community,” said Adam Kniffen, Sioux Falls Market President. “We understand the value in partnering with organizations and events that bring people together and create opportunities for growth, connection, and positive change.”
First Bank & Trust’s commitment to serving local customers and meeting the area’s growing needs has been reinforced by enhancing its locations in the area. They entered the Sioux Falls market in 2006 through a bank acquisition, which led to the construction of three new locations (57th Street & I-229 in 2007, 9th Street & Minnesota in 2008, and Dawley Farms in 2017) and included long-standing locations in nearby Garretson and Canton.
Through its services, investments, and community partnerships, First Bank & Trust focuses on empowering Sioux Falls residents and businesses to achieve their goals. By prioritizing the needs of individuals, businesses, and local organizations, the bank’s goal is to contribute to the Sioux Falls community’s lasting success.
