What is the most pressing challenge facing our community and how would you work to address it?:
Sioux Falls is a thriving city that has seen major growth in recent years. There are many great things that come with this change, but also a unique set of challenges. Fundamentally, these new challenges amount to addressing growth while maintaining our existing neighborhoods. As a city, we must be sure our first responders have the staff and equipment to keep our citizens safe. We must enable the creation of affordable housing in our community. Lastly, we must make sound financial decisions for today and for the future. As a City Councilor, I will address these areas by focusing on fostering responsible economic development, working to reduce crime, and practicing fiscal responsibility, while maintaining a transparent and limited local government. Sioux Falls is at a key stage in its development; the decisions the council makes in the next four years will have ripple effects for generations. This circumstance calls for someone like me, who has previous experience in crafting and shaping policy. As a state legislator, promoting smart economic growth was my number one issue, which is why I was twice named the Chamber Champion of the Sioux Falls Legislators. I have lived in Sioux Falls for almost my entire life and have a vested interest in seeing it continue to prosper. As your next City Councilor, I promise to be authentic and accessible while researching all sides of an issue to make the best decision for our great city.
