Empower U: Built by a Community, Driven by Better Care

The Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce is proud to feature our Connector Members—key collaborators committed to fostering meaningful relationships and building a vibrant business community. Connector tier members are instrumental in creating a strong network within Sioux Falls, bridging connections among businesses and community leaders. Through their active engagement, they support initiatives that uplift our city while developing their teams and strengthening partnerships.

Six years ago, Empower U started with a simple belief: physical therapy could be done differently.

At the beginning, that meant treating out of local gyms, subleasing space wherever we could find it, and even seeing people in their homes around Sioux Falls. We didn’t have a big team, a big clinic, or some perfect roadmap. We just believed people deserved more time, more attention, and a better experience with their healthcare.

What has happened since then has been far bigger than I could have imagined. But none of it happens without the people of Sioux Falls.

Our clients trusted us with their pain, their goals, their families, and their comeback stories. Local gyms, trainers, business owners, healthcare providers, and community partners opened doors for us before Empower U had much of a track record at all. That support gave us the chance to grow, and I don’t take that for granted.

Today, Empower U has become a team of physical therapists, support staff, and leaders that I am incredibly proud of.

What makes our model different is pretty simple: we don’t believe getting out of pain should be the finish line. For us, that is the starting point.

We want to know what someone actually wants to get back to. Running. Lifting. Golf. Playing with their kids. Competing. Working without pain. Feeling like themselves again.

Because our therapists work one-on-one with clients, we get the time to slow down, listen, and understand the person in front of us. Then we can combine things like dry needling, manual therapy, exercise, and performance training into a plan that is truly individualized.

One phrase we use often is that we want to be your last first visit.

A lot of people come to us after trying multiple things. They’ve been told to rest, stop doing what they love, or just live with the problem. Our goal is to give them a plan that finally makes sense and help them become more confident in what their body can do.

That mindset has pushed us to keep growing where we see a need. Most recently, that included adding women’s health physical therapy in Sioux Falls.

Over the last six years, Empower U has also expanded to Omaha and Austin, launched Move U to serve pediatric families, created continuing education opportunities for healthcare providers, and built a coaching arm to help other clinic owners grow.

I’m proud of that growth, but I’m even more grateful for how it happened. We would not be where we are without the clients who referred their friends and family, the businesses that partnered with us, and a team that continues to care deeply about the people we serve.

As we continue to grow, the goal is still simple: Take care of people the right way. Keep raising the standard. And keep building something that our team, our clients, and Sioux Falls can be proud of.
